Late Sunday night a man in Las Vegas shot dead 59 people, and injured nearly 530 more at the Route 91 country music festival from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay resort and casino during the closing performance of Jason Aldean. The shooter was 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, retired accountant, and high-stakes gambler who was found dead by police after he shot himself as they approached. Police found 23 firearms in the including at least one modified to be capable of automatic fire. The incident surpassed the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting as the deadliest mass shooting by a lone gunman in U.S. history.
