Hundreds pack Texas Capitol for transgender bathroom debate.

By PAUL J. WEBER, ASSOCIATED PRESS | March 7, 2017 |

Hundreds packed the Texas Capitol over a transgender bathroom bill introduced in this year’s legislative session.

More than four-hundred people jammed the capitol building in austin Tuesday to speak out against a North Carolina style “bathroom bill” that would require transgender people to use public bathrooms according to the sex on their birth certificate, according to the Associated Press.

The National Football League and National Basketball Association also warned that the bill may make them reconsider bringing big events to Texas such as the 2017 Super Bowl in Houston.

The NCAA cancelled seven championship events in North Carolina after a similar bill passed called HB2.

Republican House Speaker Joe Strauss says the Texas bathroom bill is bad for the economy and Governor Gregg Abbott hasn’t publicly endorsed it, but three months remain in the 2017 legislative session.
